After School at PS6 offers families supplemental programming for grades PreK through 5, across STEM, the visual arts, the performing arts, sports, dance, language, debate, music, chess, and more.

What You Need to Know

Location
All classes take place at PS6.

Days
K-5 classes are available Monday through Friday. PreK classes are available Tuesday through Friday. After School at PS6 follows the DOE calendar unless otherwise noted, meaning that classes run every day that school is in session full-time.

Nurse
Nurse Sarah is available daily from 2:30-4:00 PM.

Semester Dates
The Fall 2025 semester runs from September 4 through January 20.
The Spring 2026 semester runs from February 2 to June 18.

Timing
All K-5 classes run from 2:30 dismissal to 5:00, with extended pick-up available any and every day at no extra charge until 5:45. All PreK classes run from 2:30 dismissal to 4:00; extended day is not available for PreK.

Pick-Up
K-5 pick-up is from the School Yard (82nd Street).
PreK pick-up is from the Rotunda Doors (81st Street).

Big Apple Youth Sports	Flag Football	2-5	Monday	Through practices, games, and class tournaments, this class will cover the necessary skills to be successful in both flag football and basketball. Football: route running, passing, spacing, and defense.
	Tennis Class/Strength and Motor Skill Development Class	1-3	Monday	Designed to teach our young students the fundamentals of Tennis via hands on practice and cardio! Games like Gaga, Soccer, Running Bases, and Hit the Deck will also be played.
	Tennis 2: Advanced	3-5	Monday	Perfect for young players who already have some tennis experience and are excited to keep growing their skills in a fun, supportive environment! With a small group size limited to 12 students, each child gets plenty of attention and encouragement.

Students have the opportunity to explore a selection of diverse dance genres, hone their movement techniques, and unleash their creativity! Through the user-friendly Scratch coding language and similar technology-based platforms, children learn to create their own AI-powered projects like interactive games, animations, and chatbots.
The Art Farm	Working With Wildlife (Live Animal Science)	K-2 3-5	Monday	Does your child adore animals or dream about becoming a zookeeper or veterinarian? This program will give students the opportunity to explore several jobs which focus on being around animals everyday! Activities include: listening to bird calls, designing zoo exhibits, examining x-rays of animal broken bones and practicing science observation skills. We will meet LIVE animals every week.
DramaZone	Policy Debate 2	2-5	Monday	This course is for both new and returning students and therefore open to all levels of debaters. Policy Debate 2 will pick up the pace while developing speeches that execute our points toward the greatest impact. Students will be paired by level and experience.

Kids In Design	Fantastic Structures	K-5	Wednesday	Stories bring an element of play, and play is the key to architectural and engineering design, which has both plot and structure. This course turns your favorite story into an actual built reality. Students will polish their design and communication skills, while revisiting some of their favorite childhood stories. So much good design sparks from doodles, from absurd ideas, and from fantasies.

	Basketball Skill Development Class	3-5	Wednesday	Tailored exclusively for budding basketball enthusiasts, this intensive program is a game-changer in skill development. Picture a focused curriculum dedicated solely to basketball, refining everything from ambidextrous dribbling prowess to strategic passing, defensive tactics, cardiovascular conditioning, and precision shooting across various distances.
	Wednesday Afternoons at PS6!	PreK	Wednesday	Our PreK class will focus on playing in open space and awareness of personal space. Big Apple will also concentrate on effectively working on motor skills such as agility, balance, and strength all via creative games, scrimmages, and exercises. Broadway Bound Kids	Broadway Bound Beginners	PreK	Wednesday	Inspired by hit Broadway shows like Matilda, Frozen, Annie, and many, many more, this program centers student voice and creativity while building the fundamentals of musical theater – singing, dancing, and acting! Our young stars will learn to work together as an ensemble while each getting their own moments to shine.

EFNY	French 1, 2, 3	K-5	Wednesday	EFNY, Education en Français à New York – French Education in New York is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the French language in New York City public schools. EFNY instructors are bilingual or native French speakers and experienced professional teachers, with at least one diploma from a French-speaking country.
Aurora Skills Inc.	Financial Literacy Club	4-5	Thursday	Join our fun, hand-on club where you’ll learn how to manage money like a pro through games, virtual money challenges, and real-life scenarios. Students will pick up important skills like budgeting, saving, understanding income vs. expenses, and even how to start investing – all in a safe, low-risk space.

Future Medical Doctor Club	3-5	Thursday	The program offers participants the opportunity to explore the key responsibilities of a doctor, setting up an office, purchasing equipment, and hiring staff. Aspiring doctors will learn about lung disease, performing CPR, first aid and Heimlich maneuver, treating broken bones, managing hypothermia, using a stethoscope, learning about the functions of the brain, heart and spine, discussing steps to becoming a doctor and more.

Launch Math + Science Centers	Coding + Robot Adventures	K-2	Thursday	In this dynamic class, kids delve into popular 'techie' subjects like coding, robotics, and electronics. The course begins with exciting programming challenges using the coding language, ScratchJr, then transitions to building simple circuits, and dovetails into exploring the intricacies of computer anatomy. Along the way, students wire a light-up circuit bug and create artistic masterpieces with self-made doodle bots!
	Freaky Forces + Elusive Energies	3-5	Thursday	From the magic of magnetism to the science of sound, our physicists-in-training explore a world filled with energies and forces! Exciting projects such as lava lamps, clay boats, cotton ball launchers, and color spinners allow children to touch, feel, and see the complex concepts that are the building blocks of physics. The energy (potential and kinetic!) in the class is contagious as kids are introduced to intriguing topics ranging from buoyancy and displacement to trajectories and projectile motion.
	Mini Mathematicians	PreK	Thursday	This program is designed to engage young children with stimulating mathematical themes and objects they encounter in their everyday lives. Class sessions provide explicit instruction and age-appropriate activities that encourage tots to think about, talk about and explore math concepts and skills. The program introduces topics through small group activities that foster socialization and captivate kids by disguising learning as fun!

Color Pop	Fine Art: Creative Journey Through Art Mediums	K-2	Friday	Colorpop invites students on a unique creative adventure through a wide spectrum of art mediums and techniques! Each week brings a new exploration, from sewing cyanotype fabrics to plaster casting, students will be introduced to exciting, unconventional materials. Beginning with mark-making and drawing, we will deep dive into printmaking, painting, and sculpture.

Kids In Design	Innovation Lab	K-5	Friday	Students will reinvent, redesign and build familiar objects and simple machines (think wheels, cars, rollercoasters, shoes, and mechanical arms) while learning the basics of design and engineering.
Broadway Bound Kids	Wee Ballet	PreK	Friday	This class introduces our young students to the most foundational style of dance: Ballet! Teaching Artists will guide dancers through simple ballet movements, developing coordination, balance, and motor skills. But technique comes second only to fun in this class! Students will be encouraged to express themselves through movement games and exploration, fostering creativity and self-expression.
Broadway Bound Kids	PS 6's Got Talent!	K-5	Friday	Whether it’s singing, dancing, juggling, joke-telling, or poetry, the students of PS 6 are bursting with talent. Students will create a variety show, with heavy emphasis on student voice, and devising a Talent Show. BBK Teaching Artists will work with the cast to create production numbers for opening and closing, and each student involved will rehearse and create their own moment. The program will culminate in a Talent Show.
Launch	Little Astronauts!	PreK	Friday	Welcome to Little Astronauts, a dynamic class where young space enthusiasts embark on an exciting journey through the cosmos! Through hands-on projects like creating Squeeze Bottle Rockets, designing Pipe Cleaner Constellations, and building a Wheeling Rover, students immerse themselves in the wonders of space exploration.
	STEM All-Stars	K-2	Friday	Students explore a mix of science, technology, engineering, and math – all with a fun sports-inspired twist. From learning how athletes use lung power to studying the science of speed, motion, and energy, students make real-world connections between STEM and sports.
	Kids Crime Lab	3-5	Friday	Designed as a suspense-building “whodunit” experience, Kids Crime Lab guides students through the discovery of clues and the tackling of challenges tied to topics such as cellular structure and DNA. Through the testing of collected samples, our junior detectives gather evidence required to analyze the case. From bacterium to blood type, kids learn how to interpret the evidential data and draw conclusions necessary to crack the case.

Scholarships

Please adhere to the scholarship request instructions provided by each provider, or you may email the provider for the class you are interested in and copy Sanober Khan ([email protected]) and the After School Coordinator ([email protected]). Please note that the After School team, together with the PS6 providers, works collaboratively on scholarship and financial aid matters to best support families in need of assistance.

Refund Policy

Providers may issue pro-rated refunds upon request, minus the processing fee for the class and the cost of any classes that took place before the refund request. Refund requests must be submitted by February 14, 2026.

Off-Site Programming

The following programs pick up from PS6 and run independently at different locations. Please register directly with these programs.

Kennebec Kicks Run Club
Kennebec Kicks Run Club will gently build your child's speed and endurance in a fun and supportive team setting all while having a great time and encouraging the love for the great sport of running! Practices take place in Central Park and vary weekly on focus and location to keep the runners engaged and gently progressing in speed and endurance.

The Kicks are more than just a weekly practice; we are a community that extends far beyond practice alone. Every practice is one hour and includes a dynamic warm-up, run game, age-appropriate run, static stretch, cool down, team building, core memories and lots and lots of fun! The Kicks pick up from PS6 at 2:30. Runners are dismissed at 4pm from Fine Cleaners & Tailors, 30 East 81st Street, New York, NY 10028.

92Y Noar After-School Program
Noar is the 92Y’s after-school program for elementary-school age children (K through 6th grade). The Noar Program provides transportation from neighborhood schools, including chaperoned bus service from PS6. Children can attend for as little as one day or as many as five days a week. The program starts at 3 pm and ends at 6pm each day.
