What We Do
The PS6 PTA exists to strengthen our school community alongside the PS6 administration. This includes organizing community-building events such as the annual Spring Fair, Read-A-Thon, Fun Run, and Field Day – along with many school-wide parent social events. We also play a critical role in driving fundraising efforts through our Annual Fund.

Spring Fair: Our 82nd Street celebration brings the entire neighborhood together with live music, games, face painting, and delicious food. A joyful tradition that captures the spirit of PS6!
Fun Run: Promoting fitness and school spirit, students run laps around the school yard while proudly wearing race bibs and earning a check mark for each completed lap.
Movie Night: Bring your blankets and enjoy a movie under the stars in the PS6 yard! With popcorn, friends, and a favorite film, it’s a perfect evening for the whole family.
World Tour: A vibrant exhibition of our diverse community, featuring cultural performances, traditional attire, and displays that showcase the rich heritage of PS6 families from around the world.
Field Day: Hosted at Asphalt Green, Field Day is packed with fun, team-based activities – from relay races and tug of war to obstacle courses and water games.
Book Fair: A cherished event that sparks excitement around reading, the Book Fair gives each class the opportunity to shop for donated previously-loved books.

Officers of the PTA are elected by membership annually; there are many opportunities to get involved so you can gain a deeper understanding of what’s happening at school and play a role in giving our students the best educational experience possible. It’s also a great way to meet friends and have a voice in decisions about school programs and policies.
Read more about the officer duties and responsibilities in our bylaws.
Email [email protected] with questions or to express interest. Elections are held annually in May for the following school year.

The PS6 PTA relies on the generous volunteer efforts of our parents. We encourage you to become involved in your child’s education, share ideas, and enrich our school community! Please join our volunteer database and let us know the areas that spark interest.
