Special Education
It is more important than ever to create inclusive, welcoming learning environments for every student so that they feel safe and experience success. Special Education includes services, programs, and specially designed instruction to meet the individual needs of a student with a learning disability.
Students with learning disabilities who require special education services as determined by the NYC DOE have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The IEP is created by a team that includes parents and guardians. This contains information about your child’s interests, strengths, needs, and goals. The IEP is a map that details the Special Education instruction, support, and services your child needs to make progress and succeed at PS6.
Please refer to the DOE Special Services Family Guide for more information.
